Canyonlands National Park is in southeastern Utah near the town of Moab and preserves a colorful landscape
eroded into countless canyons, mesas and buttes by the Colorado River, the Green River, and their respective tributaries.
The Island in the Sky area is a spacious plateau (mesa) enclosed by Colorado and Green River. There are many spectacular
views of the White Rim, a sandstone escarpment some 360 meters below the plateau, and on the rivers,
a further 300 meters below the White Rim.

Der Canyonlands National Park befindet sich im südöstlichen Utah, Nahe der Stadt Moab und schützt eine farbenfrohe
Landschaft, die durch den Colorado River, den Green River und Ihre Nebenflüssein unzählige Canyons, Hochebenen
und Kuppen erodiert wurde. Die Island in the Sky (Insel im Himmel) ist eine weitläufige Hochebene (Mesa) die vom
Colorado und Green River eingeschlossen wird. Es gibt viele spektakuläre Aussichten auf den White Rim, eine Sandstein-
abbruchkante rund 360 Meter unterhalb des Plateaus, und auf die Flussläufe, weitere 300 Meter unterhalb des White Rims.
